      Well, I’ve just downloaded the portable version. I unzipped the folder and transferred everything into another folder, only to find that the files ‘StopUpdates10.exe’ & ‘SU10Guard.exe’ had a large, red ‘X’ on them! Is this how they are supposed to look? (They didn’t look like this whilst in the zipped folder) or is it that something in my PC is stopping these files from being used? I only have Windows Defender and Firewall; no other anti-virus software, so why has this happened? I thought it was only Zone Alarm that blocks this?

      This! If possible can you stop big blue screen advising the current version of Windows 10 is stopping support, but allow other updates if necessary. For whatever reason, my current computer can’t run 1709 (like Windows on some old Macbook Pros).

          At last,,, a simple bit of software that will stop those never ending updates and that screen as Ozvic described warning you that their support of Windows 1607 will end in April. When in fact, they’ve stated it’ll be Jan 2023. I’ve had that 1709 Creators update try to load soooo many times and fail. Even wushohide doesn’t do the trick. It’s become just like a virus where I can’t use my laptop for hours and hours. So,,, well done and a big hip hip hooray to you Dmitrys.
          Of course,,, if I see updates like security patches, Defender updates, then I’ll open the gates,,, for a while. I’m really glad I found your software and look forward to a bit of peace from Micro-get on everyone’s nerves-soft.

      You can allow updates when it is convenient for you and get your Windows updated.
      Updates are not useless. But the problem is in the force updating by Microsoft.

      If you want to allow Windows Store Apps updates – allow the Windows updates service.

    Running Windows 10 Home, after doing a StopUpdates10 Restore Windows Updates, the Windows Update service remains disabled. “Start” is greyed out in the service properties, and if I try to do a net start, I get “The System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied.” How can I get updates again?

          Check the box “Updates Guard is active”

          Also, check that the service SU10Guard is enabled and working

            Check that you have Administrator rights and other programs on your PC do not block S10.

    but KB4493132 is only offered & used on Win7 Home and ultimate editions. MS released the KB4524752 update for Win7 Professional systems
    in late October 2019, which provide the “end of service” notifications specific to Win7 Pro edition similar to KB4493132. perhaps in a future version of
    StopUpdates10 it will deal with the KB4524752 EOS notifications on win7 pro.

    Hi there,

    First of all, thanks for your great utility!

    I would like to set it up so that only the feature updates (new Windows builds) are stopped, but all other updates are allowed.

    In settings, I’ve checked Updates Guard is active and Disable Windows upgrade. I’ve unchecked Disable Windows Update and Disable Windows Update Service.
    Then in the main I’m not blocking the updates (it says Windows Update is not blocvked), but updates guard is active.
    In the pause update settings, I’ve set the Puse updates and Pause Month Updates to today and Pause feature updates to 11/11/2099.

    Is this the correct way?

    With these settings I get an error when I try to check for updates (probably because Updates guard is active, I’ll try disabling it).

    Why was my comment deleted? I was only asking how to only stop feature updates and allow all other updates. I tried setting the options but I either get no updates or all updates, even when the windows upgrades are disabled in settings and feature updates are paused. Please could you help? Thanks.

    Windows update service restarts after few days using stopupdates10 , I found out its due to waasmedic/windowsupdate tasks in Task scheduler……..can you add disable these tasks in Task scheduler ??

      BitDefender Total security and Checkpoint ZoneAlarm block access to the registry for StopUpdates10!
      You can see a message “Updates are partially disabled”.

      Solution:
      Stop ZoneAlarm real-time monitoring.
      Disable updates using StopUpdates10.
      Activate ZoneAlarm real-time monitoring.

    hello. I have NO IDEA how this thing is on my device. I was struggling to update my device until i chanced upon this program in task manager. I tried going to apps and features to uninstall it but it isn’t on the list. How do i remove it?

        Thanks for the quick reply. So I have managed to find the application as you said in the windows folder. I did a quick scan and nothing popped up. I didn’t open it yet but it does say the software was from greatis. So how do I stop it from preventing the updates? do I just delete it, or should I open the application and switch it off?

          If StopUpdates10.exe is signed by Greatis, you can open it and restore updates.
          After that remove the service and uninstall it:
          SU10Guard.exe -u
          StopUpdates10.exe /unins

          Next, delete files.
